for and by young people with HIV

when and how to tell?

Right after I was informed at the hospital that I had HIV, I took a day off from work and informed everyone by SMS and phone. Everyone reacted surprised. My brother was really angry and railed at me in a frightful reaction. After that we did not mention it for a long time.

A whole year later, my brother asked me for information about HIV and medication. I heard that he had been for an appointment with the doctor and medical consultant; he was feeling guilty on account of my HIV, as he felt he did not protect his little brother.

Also, my ex-boyfriend no longer wanted to see or speak to me. However, no one dropped me even though my ex, eventually changed his opinion. I have taken this rather soberly and I live my life the same as always. Everyone does it in his own way, but you do it how you feel best.
